Rhodos, or Rhodes in English, is a Greek Island, actually the biggest Greek Island on Aegean Sea. It is only 11 miles from the Turkey coast and has 120,000 people living on the island. Historically, Rhodes was famous worldwide for the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Rhodes is one of the oldest civilizations in the Mediterranean Region; it was inhabited during the Neolithic period. Later, it became part of Byzantine Empire and Ottoman Empire. Then in 1912, it has been assigned to Italy and finally in 1948, Rhodes was united with Greece. Today, the population is mostly Greek, with the biggest minority formed of Turks. Because it is an island, transportation is not a problem at all. Motorcycles and bikes are the most popular way of traveling. See the pictures :)
